Best Products For Hiding Dark Circles!

Everyone has that one feature that they struggle to cover whether it be redness, acne or scarring to name a few. Thanks to genetics, I have unfortunately inherited dark under eye circles.

Dark circles occur under the eyes for several reasons including lack of nutrients or vitamins, lack of sleep or like me, genetics. Usually lack of sleep causes the under eye area to become puffy which makes concealing them that much harder, which I know we’ve all encountered at least once! I found putting cold green tea bags or cucumber under the eyes helps to diminish the puffiness.

As someone who has dark circles, I have had the constant battle of trying to find a product that conceals the dark blue tones without looking cakey, creasing or being too sheer. Needless to say I have about 1000 concealers with only a small selection making the cut. Okay, I have about 30 but still, who needs that many concealers!

Here are my favourites!

LA Girl Pro Conceal – Classic Ivory

RRP $2.99

These concealers are full coverage and light weight so they don't cake up or crease under the eye. I love this shade as it has a peach hue to it helping to hide the blue and purple tones. This concealer is my everyday go-to concealer as I love the finish as it works perfectly with any foundation. I highly recommend trying these. They are only $2.99, bargain!

LA Girl Pro Conceal – Orange Corrector

RRP $2.99

This shade is perfect for correcting the blue and purple tones prior to putting on concealer. I use this if I’m wanting a full coverage look or wearing a smoky eye, so it doesn’t look like I’ve been punched in the eye! A little goes a llloooooonnggg way with this shade so use very sparingly as you don't want to overload the orange. One tip I discovered with this, is to set it with a very thin layer of translucent powder before applying concealer to avoid the two mixing and turning into a hot mess!

Napoleon Perdis Concealer – The One Concealer (Orange)

RRP $39

This product works similar to the previous orange corrector although this one is a thicker cream consistency meaning it doesn’t need to be set with a powder before using a concealer over the top. I tend to use this one mainly in the inner points of my eye closest to the inner corner as I get quite dark in there. Once applied your regular concealer blends seamlessly over the top, as though it was never there. This one is great for quick colour correcting on your way out the door!

Benefit Erase Paste – No.1 Fair

RRP $47

This one was quite pricey although I’m glad I made the splurge as it is amazing! As you can see from the picture is has a slight salmon hue to it which assists in the concealing of those dark circles. The great this about this concealer is that it is brightening so it doesn’t leave the area dull. The Erase Paste is a little creamier than regular cream concealers which means you get more manipulation and blending of the product before it sets. Definitely worth the splurge!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind – Fair

RRP $18.95

This one is a cult favourite across the beauty community. It covers dark circles effortlessly and brightens the under eyes like no tomorrow. This concealer is the perfect highlighting shade and is quite affordable. It has a thin consistency so it is easy to blend but the high pigmentation ensures those dark circles don’t make an appearance throughout the day. I’m already onto my third tube of this. I love it!

NYX Dark Circle Concealer – Fair

RRP $9.95

This concealer is a great light weight concealer for everyday wear that also covers the dark circles. I find it does an amazing job and covering up the dark blue in the inner corners without creasing and looking cakey. On days where my skin was a little dry, I mixed this product with a beauty oil to ensure it didn’t cling to those dry patches and this concealer is a little drier than the other two cream concealers mentioned.

NYX Conceal Correct Contour Palette – Light

RRP $11.95

I’m so glad I picked this palette up when I was in the States as it is a game changer. There are so many different shades in this palette to help with disguising the dark circles. I also mix these shades with an oil and they work like a dream. The orange is perfect for concealer the dark circles, I then mix the yellow concealer with a lighter skin tone shade to highlight my eyes and to disguise the orange. If I’m feeling in the mood, I’ll use the brown to contour my face. More about that in a post coming up soon!

Overall these products have been a lifesaver in disguises my dark circles and I am so glad that I have stumbled across them. As with any makeup, a particular product may not work for everyone which is why it took me so long to find something that worked and that I loved. I hope you give these a try and if you have let me know how they worked for you. Also, if you’ve found another product that is awesome at covering your dark circles I want to know!
